Passive Voice

Satu ciri khas yang baku, bahwa passive voice digunakan untuk kalimat kerja aktif transitif. Bahasa mudahnya, kalimat yang menggunakan kata kerja (kata sifat, kata benda, dan kata keadaan tidak termasuk) dan juga kata kerjanya menggunakan objek (kata kerja transitif) yang biasanya berupa kata benda…contohnya melempar bola, menggunakan perahu, menanam padi, dsb..

Aturan bakunya untuk setiap bentuk Tenses adalah

Objek + to be + V3(Past Participle Verb) + by + Subjek

Contoh :

1.     He reads a book
The book is read by him

2.    They eat fried chicken
Fried chicken are eaten by them

3.    The bottle hits the floor
The floor is hit by the bottle

4.    You drink the beer and eat potatoes
The beer and potatoes are drunk and eaten by you.

5.    I serve the passengers
The passengers are served by me

6.    We write some letters
Some letters are written by us

7.    She hates him
He is hated by her

8.    The director and the managers leave the office
The office are left by the director and the managers

9.    Mona’s car crash the small plants
The small plants are crashed by Mona’s car

10. Toni and Marta raise their children together
Toni’s and Marta’s children are raised by them together.

Simple past tense dalam passive voice dibentuk oleh auxiliary verbwas/were dan past participle.Subject pada passive voice merupakan object pada active voicedengan was untuk subject tunggal, sedangkan were untuk subject jamak. Adapun agent pada passive voice merupakan subjectpada active voice. 

Contoh :

1.    The first book was printed in 2005 by Sunmark Press.

2.    The letter was left when he was away from his desk.

3.    Sardines and rice were used to eat for dinner by Tio.

4.    Mental health was just talked by them.

5.    Yesterday, the hotel was stayed at by my father.

6.    Your door was knocked on last night.

7.    The computer has been usedwithout permission.

8.    The final results can be viewedon the web.

9.    Physical exercises are seldomdone regularly.

10. The students were instructedto solve the math problem.

Past Future Tense (passive voice)

Untuk menerangkan sesuatu yang akan dikerjakan dimasa lampau di saat terjadi kegiatan lain di masa lampau.

Formula :

.........would/should + be + verb III + Past Tense ......

Contoh :

1.     I knew you would prepare all the things for the meeting.

2.     They told that they were going to visit Lombok.

3.     I thought she was going to enroll the course.

4.     My uncle told me that he would come on time.

5.     She promised she would give me a box of banana cake.

6.     My father had a strong feeling that the weather would be warm.

7.     I thought that the authorities were going to investigateall allegations of fraud.

8.     I knew the task would be finished in an hour.

9.     We thought a new car was going to be bought by Rizma

10. They told that they were going to visit Bali
